Parts A and B are called Original Medicare.
Parts C and D have been added in the last 20 years and are called the privatized part of Medicare.
Part A takes care of all inpatient hospitalization cost. Any test, operation, or service done for you while you are an inpatient in the hospital is covered by Part A of Medicare.
Part B coverage includes outpatient visits to a hospital or clinic and doctor office visits. Together these cover all medical treatments and procedures that you might encounter and they pay approximately 80% of the cost. But they do not cover prescription drug costs.
So, in the next Medicare Minute I will explain prescription costs, plans and how to choose your prescription plan coverage.
